Why we guarantee our shutters
Covers orders placed from 14 October 2026 onward.
We take pride in the quality made-to-measure interior shutters we supply at Shutter World, and we want you to enjoy yours for years to come. For that reason, selected shutter products are guaranteed against qualifying defects in colour fastness and workmanship.
There is no extra cost for the guarantee on qualifying purchases. It is subject to the terms below, and it gives you added peace of mind.
What the guarantee covers
Each part of the cover is drawn to scale in the chart near the top of this page.
10 years: colour fastness
We guarantee that, in normal indoor conditions, covered shutters will keep their colour finish colourfast for 10 years, counted from delivery. Normal ageing is not included, and neither is fading from prolonged direct sunlight, nor change that comes from incorrect cleaning or unsuitable environmental conditions.
10 years: workmanship
Covered shutters are guaranteed for 10 years, counted from delivery, against defects in workmanship, as long as they have been installed in an appropriate environment and used and maintained correctly.
5 years: hardware
The hardware and operating components that come with covered shutters carry a 5-year guarantee, counted from delivery, against qualifying defects. That covers component failures, where covered, that arise under normal use from defective materials or workmanship.
Start date and length
Cover begins when the covered shutters are delivered and lasts for the relevant period set out above. Qualifying purchases that Shutter World supplies are covered, subject to the conditions this policy sets out.
You do not need to register the guarantee separately. Please keep your invoice, order confirmation or other proof of purchase.
What the guarantee excludes
Faults or damage resulting from the following are not covered:
- Wear and tear that builds up over time with normal, everyday use.
- Misuse, neglect or accidental damage, which includes damage from handling or operating the shutters improperly.
- Environmental conditions that are unsuitable, including excessive heat, condensation, water or moisture where the product is not suited to them.
- Long periods of direct sunlight that fade or change the finish.
- Cleaning or maintenance done incorrectly, including the use of excessive water, abrasive materials or unsuitable cleaning products.
- The natural character of wood, including knots and variations in grain, texture and natural colour. Replacement parts, individual shutters and samples may also vary a little from one another.
- Display products and samples, unless we have expressly confirmed in writing that the guarantee covers them.
- Missing items or damage visible on delivery that you do not tell Shutter World about within 14 days of delivery. Please check your order when it arrives, and if any item is damaged or missing, contact us promptly.
Changes in appearance from normal environmental ageing, or from conditions outside the product's intended use, are not covered either.
Each exclusion applies only to the extent that an issue falls outside the cover set out in this guarantee. None of them removes or restricts the statutory rights you have.
If your claim is valid
If you think a fault covered by this guarantee has developed in your shutters, contact Shutter World so that we can assess it.
Depending on the circumstances and the nature of the fault, an appropriate remedy may include a repair or a replacement of the shutter or component affected. Once we have assessed the claim, we will explain the remedy we propose.
Because of ageing, production differences or natural variation in materials, replacement parts or products may vary a little in appearance or colour from the originals. Anything we replace under this guarantee stays covered for the rest of the original period, and a replacement does not automatically come with a fresh guarantee period.
Call-out charges, shipping, taking shutters down or putting them back up, and associated work are not routinely covered by this guarantee. This wording does not, however, limit any remedy or cost that your statutory rights legally require Shutter World to provide or pay.
