Modern kitchen with grey shutters over the patio doors

Patio door shutters that move aside

Fit them to patio, sliding or French doors. When you want to go outside, the panels fold or slide out of the way, and when you want privacy, they close across the glass.

Patio doors without the glare

Patio and French doors are one big sheet of glass. The glare and the summer heat come straight in, and so does the neighbours' view. With shutters, the louvres tilt for daylight and privacy, and the panels fold or slide away when you head out into the garden.

Patio shutters hang on one of two tracks. A bi-fold track folds the panels to the side, and a bypass track slides them behind one another the way wardrobe doors do. For French doors the panels are shaped to clear the handles and locks, and you tell us which way you want each set to open.

  • Straight out to the garden

Fold or slide the panels off the doors and walk out.

  • Light without the neighbours

Angle the louvres for a bright room that next door cannot see into.

  • Your layout, agreed first

Before we make anything, we agree with you how the panels will open, fold and stack.

Ranges that make patio shutters

You can have bi-fold or sliding bypass tracks in Georgia, Boston and Montana. With its polymer louvres, a single Georgia panel spans a wider gap, which helps on big doors.

Between them, the five ranges offer 41 colours and stains, and four of them will match a custom colour.

Questions we get on patio shutters

Not answered here? Ring 08707 545 300 or bring it up at your free design visit. We are open 7 days, 9am to 6pm.

What doors can you shutter?

Sliding doors, French doors, patio doors and any other big glazed opening. The shutters control the light, keep you private and add a layer over the glass, and you can still get outside.

Will they work with sliding doors?

Yes. We put the shutters on a track for sliding doors, so the panels move along beside the doors and never block the way out to the garden.

Bi-fold or bypass: what is the difference?

A bi-fold track folds the panels together in pairs, which then stack to one side or both. A bypass track slides them past one another, like wardrobe doors, which is handy where space is tight.

Can I have them on French doors?

Yes, French doors are a popular spot for them. We shape the panels to clear the handles and locks, so you open and lock the doors the same as before.

Will the room stay warmer?

They help. The shutters form a layer in front of the glass doors, holding in more warmth through winter and keeping out some of the summer heat.

Will they stop glare on the TV?

Yes. Angle the louvres so the direct sun misses the TV or laptop and the room still gets its daylight, useful in a kitchen-diner or a living room facing the garden.

What looking after do they need?

Very little. A dust and a wipe with a damp cloth every so often keeps them clean and working for years.
